The Challenge Keoladeo National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Ramsar wetland, is an intricate mosaic of grasslands, woodlands, and swamps covering nearly 2,900 hectares. Known as a "Bird Paradise," it serves as a critical wintering ground for over 375 species of migratory waterfowl. The primary challenge was to design a comprehensive signage and wayfinding system that could navigate visitors through this diverse ecosystem while respecting the park’s environmental sensitivity and heritage status.

The Design Solution The proposed signage system focuses on clarity, durability, and ecological integration. By utilizing a visual language that mirrors the park's natural geometry—ranging from its well-designed system of dykes and sluices to its vast woodland swamps—the design ensures a seamless user journey for both domestic and international tourists.

Key features of the system include:

• Eco-Centric Wayfinding: Identification of the park's 24 administrative blocks and key ecological zones, such as heronries and wintering grounds for raptors.

• Educational Interpretation: Integrated informational panels that highlight the park's biodiversity, including endangered species like the Greater Spotted Eagle, to foster conservation awareness.

• Strategic Placement: Signs positioned at critical junctions along the boundary walls and internal dykes to minimize human-wildlife disturbance in this highly populated landscape.

The Impact This signage system aims to bridge the gap between complex park management and visitor experience. By enhancing communication and interpretation, the project supports long-term conservation goals, enabling naturalist guides and visitors to navigate and appreciate the unique "green wildlife oasis" of Bharatpur.
