Project Overview
Twilight Tryst is a redesign of Amul’s 55% Dark Cocoa bar, aimed at elevating the brand’s visual language into the premium craft chocolate space. The challenge was to move away from traditional commercial aesthetics and embrace a sophisticated, narrative-driven identity that resonates with the "Twilight" theme—that fleeting, magical moment where day meets night.
The Design Concept
The redesign centers on a "sensory journey." By utilizing a palette inspired by the darkening horizon and intricate, layered illustrations, the new packaging reflects the complexity of the cocoa itself. I introduced a cleaner typographic hierarchy to allow the brand’s heritage to sit comfortably alongside a modern, minimalist layout.
Tasting Note Integration: To guide the consumer's palate, I curated specific flavor profiles—Sun-dried Berries and Tropical Citrus paired with Toasted Cashew and Subtle Cardamom—bringing a boutique storytelling element to the packaging.
The Narrative: Every element, from the gold-foil accents to the matte-finish wrap, was chosen to evoke the "Tryst"—a secret, intimate meeting with flavor.
Technical Breakdown
Typography: A blend of elegant serifs for the "Twilight" identity and high-readability sans-serifs for nutritional clarity.
Visual Strategy: Shifted from generic product imagery to abstract, mood-based graphics that suggest luxury and "a little bit of love" in every bite.
Key Features: Redesigned ingredient architecture, custom iconography for tasting notes, and a reimagined brand manual for Amul’s premium line.
